What will my Story of the Cotswolds private tour be like?

If you’d like to really get under the skin of the Cotswolds, this two day, one night all inclusive private adventure will do just that for you.  We’ll begin with morning coffee at a lovely Cotswolds barn set on a farm. This will enable us to plan your days together.

This tour features a combination of stunning Cotswolds icons such as  Burford, Hidcote Gardens, Chipping Campden, Broadway Tower and the Slaughters as well as many peaceful and crowd free villages and sites which lie off the usual busy tourist trails. Consequently this tour is largely wonderfully crowd free and peaceful. It features some spectacular, little known, rural Cotswolds locations. 

We’ll lunch each day at two fabulous Cotswolds country inns where you can enjoy delicious food. And you’ll stay overnight at one of our favourite, handpicked country inns in a small Cotswolds village. Here you can enjoy a wonderful dinner and relaxing nights sleep before the following days adventures.

Included:- Pick up and return to Charlbury and Kemble train stations in the Cotswolds. Pick up and drop off also available direct from your accommodation in the West Country. Please enquire for price. A Cotswolds born, warm expert private local driver guide, all entrance tickets to Hidcote Gardens, Chedworth Roman Villa and the grounds of Broadway Tower, travel, two day’s private tour for your party, incorporating Burford, Hidcote Gardens, Chipping Campden, Broadway Tower and the Slaughters, plus hidden local villages and two pub lunches. Accommodation for two overnight (mid week) for one night in an en-suite twin or double bedroom at our handpicked country inn and breakfast the second morning.

Not included: – Gratuities, evening dinner and drinks on your overnight stay

Suggested pick up

10:10 am From Charlbury train station in the Cotswolds, with direct trains to London Paddington in 67 minutes. 

If you prefer a chauffeured car from London or from your accommodation please let us know.

Suggested return

16.50 pm To Kemble train station in the Cotswolds on day 2, with direct trains to London Paddington in 66 minutes.

If you prefer a return to your accommodation please let us know.

Refreshments

Are included at morning coffee and a light pub lunch each day with a drink. Your evening dinner and drinks are not included and are at your discretion.

You’ll find a pleasing mix of well known Cotswolds icons that you may have heard of, along with plenty of wonderful hidden gems of villages and countryside that lie off the beaten path. You’ll also find out tour largely wonderfully crowd free as we know the places only a local would know.

A Drive and Stroll offers a good balance of opportunities for short, enjoyable strolls amongst your scenic driving. This strolls or walks, are intended to be enjoyable, and enable you to enjoy the best views, villages and market towns. Typically they are 30 – 60 minutes but we can of course tailor things to suit you. It’s nice to be able to stretch your legs and get out of the vehicle to explore.

Your driver guide will be Drive and Stroll’s co-founder David Howell. David grew up in the Cotswolds and has been exploring it his entire life. He knows the county therefore extremely well and can guide you to see the best the area has to offer.

Itinerary

Day 1

10.10 am You’ll be personally met and welcomed at Charlbury train station (Cotswolds) or your accommodation by your own private driver guide. We’ll head to a rural Cotswolds Farm Cafe where we will enjoy morning coffee (included) and an opportunity to talk over the couple of day’s tour.

11.20 am Arrive to a beautiful and little known village in the Cotswolds where you can enjoy a short 1 mile stroll and visit the local church. Or we will head to the attractive market town of Burford where you can enjoy a guided tour and visit the charming shops if you wish.

1.30 pm Enjoy lunch at a charming and authentic Cotswolds country pub. The villages in this part of the Cotswolds lie off the beaten path and typical tourist trails and are beautiful.

2.30/ 2.45 pm Leave our idyllic lunch spot for a scenic drive through spectacular villages and countryside

Arrive to Hidcote Gardens and enjoy a short guided tour and stroll of the pretty gardens. 

4 pm Take an optional drive to the market town of Chipping Campden or we can head directly to your overnight accommodation (included) a wonderfully genuine and award winning Cotswolds country inn. 

Settle into your accommodation and enjoy a delicious dinner. (Dinner and evening drinks not included)

Day 2

Wake after a peaceful nights sleep and enjoy a tasty breakfast.

9.25 am You’ll be met once again by your driver guide David and will drive the short distance to Broadway Tower. Here you can enjoy the tower and views of the deer park. 

Mid morning You’ll enjoy a scenic drive through some beautiful and again, little known Cotswolds villages (our guide’s favourites) with opportunities to enjoy short strolls of some of the villages on the way.

11.30 am We drive through Upper Slaughter and then Lower Slaughter

12.45 pm Enjoy lunch at a delightful Cotswolds country inn

1.45 pm Depart from lunch taking a scenic drive through hidden parts of the Cotswolds to Chedworth Roman Villa. Enjoy a guided tour of the villa with your guide David.

We’ll get you safely to Kemble train station in the Cotswolds for the 16.50 London train, or back to your accommodation if that is what you have arranged. Relaxed and with a head full of wonderful pictures and memories.
