What's our approach?

The philosophy behind every Drive and Stroll private guided tour. Scenic drives paired with short, enjoyable strolls (typically 30 – 60 minutes). Long enough to stretch your legs and immerse yourself in the local sights and no need to drive on England’s twisty roads.

Why Drive and Stroll?

Drive and Stroll doesn’t just steer clear of the crowds, it follows its own guiding principles. This means that each of your days and tours is shaped by the founder’s deep and extensive knowledge and experience of South West England.

Co-founders David and Alison Howell have spent over three decades exploring the South West England region and they have developed a quiet, thoughtful way of creating and crafting meaningful travel experiences for you, our guests from around the world.

Unlike many others, our tours are inclusive of your entrance tickets and day time refreshments, including a light lunch and drink. One less thing to be concerned by. Scroll to read our principles for Drive and Stroll.

The Drive and Stroll Way.
Our way of travelling and touring.

We believe in the enriching power of travel.

In its ability to provide moments of discovery and joy, giving a refreshing break from daily routines and creating lasting memories.

We believe that rural England deserves to be seen for what it is – not through bucket lists and crowded honeypots, but through authentic places, real stories and the people who live there.

We believe in travel with purpose. Not to tick off a bucket list but for the adventure and joy of the experience.

We believe in connection, to places, to stories and to each other.
We believe in making people feel seen and looked after.

We believe in travel as a way of noticing. A way of remembering what matters.

" At Drive and Stroll we believe in the enriching power of travel. Experience and see the England you may have dreamed of but not known how to access. "

Drive and Stroll. Our principles.

We avoid the crowds
We seek the quiet way. The routes and places you’d never find by yourself.

We choose authenticity and experience over convenience
Our days and tours are chosen for experience and beauty – not just practicality.

We tell stories as we travel
Every place tells its own history, story and meaning. Shared through our expert local guides so you can understand and notice.

We use local knowledge and natural conversations, not guide books, headphones, screens or scripts.
Our tours, days and guiding are built on lived experience – from decades of exploring South West England, traveling and talking with those who know the region best.

We see people as fellow travellers
Our approach is individual, personable and real. We see guests, not a number on a tour bus or another booking.
