Meet private driver guide, and expert local guide David Howell
David grew up in a village in the Cotswolds and has lived and worked in South West England all his life, living in different areas including Somerset, Wiltshire and Bath. In addition over the past three decades he has explored the villages, market towns and sites of South West England extensively with Drive and Stroll’s sister company, Foot Trails.
With every Drive and Stroll private tour day his approach is to give you an enjoyable and relaxing and rewarding day out. Conversation is warm and natural and without the use of scripts, apps, screens or guidebooks.
One of David’s great passions is for storytelling and he is very knowledgeable about the history and stories of South West England. So if you ever wondered how the stones at Stonehenge got there in the first place, what the site was used for or the stories behind a particular church or period of history, he can share that with you if you wish.
Meet private driver guide, and expert local guide Alastair Baxter
Alastair was born in Bath and has lived in the South West of England region for around 36 years. He loves the South West of England for its beauty, variety, accessibility and history.
One of the things he loves most is the variety of landscape, gentle rolling hills with stunning far reaching views, meandering rivers, rich green forests, spectacular coastlines and gorgeous English villages full of pretty cottages.
Alastair has a degree in Outdoor Education and is looking forward to sharing what he loves about South West England with our guests. He said: ” I’ve always enjoyed meeting new people and it will be a real pleasure to guide our guests through the special places that we love, allowing them to explore like a local. “
" A big highlight for us was David Howell's guided tour of Stonehenge and the environs. He spoke with feeling as well as a deep knowledge. "
